After 2011, SSN assignment was randomized – because some places were running out.

Yeah, have a coworker whose infant was dropped from insurance by my employer because he was supposed to give them the child’s SSN by a date last December. He didn’t even get the letter until January. They won’t bend, and the poor kid needs a LOT of medical attention currently.

My parents got SSNs for my sister and I back in the 1960s. Her SSN is one number off of mine.
