Welcome to The Elegant Ungulate and the (not really) Obligatory Introduction, such as it is. The name probably doesn’t fit. Non-generic names seldom persist in making sense anyway. How many nowadays know or care that RCA Victor was the result the Radio Corporation of America and the Victor Talking Machine Company getting together, for example?
The odd name was chosen as the original intended purpose of the site was as a place to review or show off wardrobe from Second Life that work for me. Thus hopefully elegant. And ungulate, perhaps simplified, is “hoofed mammal” which described various Second Life characters: donkey (yes, for the obvious jokes making use of the other name for that animal), centaur, unicorn, and “minotaur.” Why quotes? Well, there was only the one Minotaur in mythology, but it has become an easy name to use for the general form. Even depictions vary from the story. Most depictions show a hoofed creature with a tail, while the story tells of a man with a bull’s head.
It seems that whatever my past was, I am now primarily known as Orvan Taurus (or Orvan Ox). Moo.
Will there be anything of Second Life fashion here? That is very doubtful, but “Never say never.” I’ve lost most interest in Second Life. It’s not a bad thing, but I think it is no longer for me. Whether it changed, I changed, or we both changed hardly matters. It’s now a place I might visit on occasion. It used to be a place I almost always was – even if I parked “myself” as, roughly, statuary while I went off and dealt with Real Life.
So what will be here? Random ramblings might be the best description. I also used to be quite active on Livejournal and that has also faded. Some was the general drop in interest there, some was changes in life and job. I’ve noticed many that used to be active on journal sites have gone to more independent blogging arrangements.
I make no promises to be prolific and have daily posts. I’d like to be able to have a schedule, but that means having something worth writing at or within regular intervals. That remains to be seen. I think I might be fortunate to keep up even weekly.
There, perhaps more than you really wanted to know. Hopefully I can do better than talking about myself next time and have some interesting subject to go on about.
